Whiplash (also called a neck sprain or strain) is caused by an abrupt jerking motion of the head which often occurs, but is not limited to, the result of a car accident. Symptoms of whiplash include:

  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Worsening of pain with neck movement
  • Loss of range of motion in the neck
  • Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull
  • Tenderness or pain in shoulder, upper back or arms
  • Tingling or numbness in the arms
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness

Some people also experience:

  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Memory problems
  • Depression

Symptoms may take up to 24 hours after the initial trauma to appear, so do not delay in heading to the doctor to be treated. Medicine alone is not a reliable treatment for whiplash, as it only masks symptoms instead of treating the root cause of whiplash pain.

Chiropractic care provides a healthy solution to this problem by:

  • Providing a doctor that specializes in finding the location of and correcting vertebral subluxations which may cause whiplash
  • Treating lower whiplash at its source, rather than masking the symptoms
  • Correcting nerve interference in the spine in order to provide long-term relief from pain
